Thomas J. Reif has extensive experience in civil litigation arena, having practiced as a trial lawyer since 1973. Through the years, he has devoted his time equally between a plaintiff’s and defendant’s practice. Since 1992, he has been certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association as a Civil Trial Specialist.

Reif practices in the areas of personal injury, products liability, contractual and insurance disputes, real estate controversies, zoning, and family law matters. He has provided mediation and arbitration services and is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. Reif has been listed by the Minnesota State Court Administrator on the Roster of Qualified Neutrals and has experience in municipal law, having served as the Assistant City Attorney for Alexandria and City Attorney for the municipalities of Miltona, Evansville and Millerville.

Reif also served as the Douglas County Attorney for ten years and while serving in this capacity, he acquired experience in contractual disputes and labor relations. His work both as a member and chairperson on the Alexandria School Board gave him additional experience in negotiating labor contracts with school district employees and in resolving civil disputes and controversies.

Reif has been recognized by the American Research Corporation as a Leading Minnesota Lawyer in the personal injury area. Fewer than six percent of all attorneys in Minnesota have been recognized as Leading Minnesota Lawyers. Reif has received an “A” by Martindale Hubbell Law Directories. This rating is reserved for attorneys demonstrating very high or preeminent legal ability. Reif has also been recognized by Law and Politics as a “Super Lawyer.”

Reif has been commissioned by the Governor of the State of Minnesota as a district member of the Commission on Judicial Selection since 1999. Reif has over 30 years of courtroom experience and has a reputation of being hardworking and fair.
